Background:

Miscarriage is the most common complication of early pregnancy, occurring in 10-40% of all pregnancies. Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is a disease distinct from infertility, defined as the spontaneous loss of two or more pregnancies and affects as many as 5% of persons attempting to build their families. There are many known causes of miscarriage including genetic, uterine, and circulatory disorders, however the majority of patients with RPL remain without definite answers as to the cause of their pregnancy losses. Join us as we discuss potentially novel causes of RPL and individualized approaches to each unique patient including understanding the physical and psychological consequences of miscarriage.

Participants in this webinar will be able to:

  • Identify new guidelines in recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL)
  • Describe the orders for and interpretation of laboratory tests (genetics approaches, immunology panel) and imaging studies
  • Discuss the importance of communicating effectively with patients and their families in their language of preference, providing compassionate care and counseling guided by cultural humility
  • Explain the basis for a comprehensive care plan based on the personalized to the needs and preferences of patients

Who should attend:

  • Persons affected by recurrent pregnancy loss and their support persons
  • Those who care for persons with recurrent pregnancy loss, including but not limited to, physicians, midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, behavioral health professionals, sonographers
  • Community organizations and members who care about and for persons with recurrent pregnancy loss
