10:00 AM to 11:00 AM: "HIE/THerapeutic Hypothermia" by Celia Glennon, NP

Objectives

  • Learners will be able to define HIE & who is eligible
  • Learners will be able to identify a window for initiated therapeutic hypothermia
  • Learners will be able to differentiate between primary and secondary energy failure in HIE
  • Learners will be able to describe components of modified Sarnat exam

11:00 AM to 12:00 PM: "Seizures" by Celia Glennon, NP

Objectives

  • Learners will be able to describe the gold standard for diagnosing seizures
  • Learners will be able to distinguish between electrographic and clinical seizures
  • Learners will be able to describe 3 common causes of neonatal seizures
  • Learners will be able to identify first line drug of choice for treating seizures

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM : LUNCH BREAK

1:00 PM to 3:00 PM: "X-Ray Interpretation" by Danielle Wetzel, NP

Objectives

  • Review basic X-ray interpretation: Radiology basics: bones, air, tissue, fluid, tubes, central lines, organs, etc.
  • Review landmarks for central line positioning: Umbilical lines and PICC lines
  • Identify common diagnoses based on radiographs: Lungs, abdominal and heart
  • Case studies

MCCPOP is approved as a provider of continuing education by the California Board of Registered Nurses, Provider # 3104. This course has been approved for up to 4.0 contact hours.
